I am a PhD student in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Director of the Tropical Research and Conservation Centre (TRACC) on Pom Pom Island, Sabah, Malaysia.
I am an avid conservation diver with extensive hands-on experience in coral reef research and restoration. My PhD research investigates how geomorphology, hydrodynamics and benthic ecology influence the recovery of degraded coral reefs. Working on the rubble-dominated reefs surrounding Pom Pom Island, I am using carbonate budgets and spatial approaches to identify the environmental conditions that enable natural reef recovery and help inform more effective coral reef restoration and conservation strategies in the Coral Triangle.
