Robbin Tan

Research Assistant

I am a Geography major at the National University of Singapore, with a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Botany. My fieldwork experience includes phenology and data collection in forest monitoring plots across Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, as well as habitat enhancement projects in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Beyond Singapore, I have contributed to forest restoration projects along the Kinabatangan River in Sabah, working alongside local communities and conservation organisations.

My passion lies in the field of herpetology, or the study of reptiles and amphibians, and I currently serve as the Scientific Officer of the Herpetological Society of Singapore (HSS). I initiated a research project on the micro-habitat partitioning of Limnonectes frogs in Singapore and presented my findings at the 10th World Congress of Herpetology in Kuching (2024) as a poster. In my free time, I combine scientific curiosity with creative expression through photography, capturing the beauty of amphibians and reptiles. I share my field accounts on Instagram (@robbintann). In 2024, I also created a comprehensive poster featuring all 30 known frog species in Singapore.
